BINTULU: The prompt response of the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) prevented a fire from spreading at Press Metal Sdn Bhd’s machine factory in Samalaju Industrial Park on Wednesday (Nov 1).
A call was received by Bomba at 12.42pm reporting the incident. Teams from the Bintulu and Samalaju stations rushed to the scene.
Upon arrival, firefighters found a fire involving a conveyor machine on the sixth floor of the factory, which had already consumed 50 per cent of the machine.
The fire was successfully brought under control by 1.55pm, with the incident involving an alumina material transport machine.
Firefighters effectively extinguished the fire using the “Offensive” method in collaboration with the Factory Emergency Response Team (ERT).
They deployed two hose streams, each measuring 1,200 feet in length and equipped with two nozzles, sourcing water from the factory’s supply.
The extinguishing operation was completed at 3.50pm. After ensuring the situation was safe and under control, the teams subsequently returned to the station.
