MIRI: A two-metre long python was rescued by the Miri Civil Force (APM) personnel after it was found trapped in a fishing net of a fisherman’s boat in Kuala Batu 1, Kuala Baram on Thursday morning (Nov 18).

According to Miri APM officer (PA) Usman Harto, the reptile, weighing four kilogrammes, was discovered by a local fisherman around 9am while cleaning his boat.

“He immediately informed his 28-year-old son, who later called up APM for help,” he said.

Upon receiving the alert, four APM personnel led by Mohd Raffi Sulaiman were rushed to the scene and arrived there at 9.49am.

“In less than 10 minutes, they have successfully removed the reptile safely,” he said.

APM personnel then shifted the python to a nearby jungle area where it was released into its natural habitat.
