KUCHING: The devastating gas pipeline explosion in Putra Heights, Selangor, serves as a stark warning for major industries, particularly those in Samalaju, Bintulu.

Deputy Minister of Urban Planning, Land Administration, and Environment Datuk Len Talif Salleh stressed the importance of prioritising safety, especially in the manufacturing and petrochemical sectors.

“Industries in Samalaju must not only ensure the safety of their workers but also properly manage scheduled waste to prevent hazards.

“That is why the state government, along with agencies responsible for safety related issues, must ensure that every factory, whether small or large, complies with the established protocols to prevent safety risks from affecting their operations and the surrounding public.

“Therefore, we urge the relevant agencies entrusted with safeguarding this industry to strictly adhere to the standards they have established,” he said.

He said this when met by reporters at his Hari Raya Aidilfitri open house at Demak Jaya here today (Apr 2).
