KOTA SAMARAHAN: Pulapol Kuching delivered a stunning performance to claim victory against IPD Miri in the 2024 Sarawak PJP Football Tournament Cup at the Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) Stadium yesterday (Feb 3).

Demonstrating superior technical skill, control of ball possession, and aggressive attacking strategies, Pulapol Kuching secured a decisive 4-1 win over their rivals.

The match began with IPD Miri applying heavy pressure, particularly threatening from the left flank. Despite this, Pulapol Kuching soon took command, effectively utilising long balls to bypass IPD Miri’s defence and dominate midfield play.

Pulapol Kuching’s strategy included diverse attempts to penetrate IPD Miri’s resilient defence, highlighted by their No. 2 winger’s dynamic runs along the right side.

The turning point came before the half-hour mark when Pulapol Kuching executed a flawless play down the left wing, resulting in a simple tap-in by the No. 2 winger.

The team’s momentum continued as their No. 11 player managed to score past IPD Miri’s goalkeeper and captain shortly before halftime.

The second half mirrored the first with Pulapol Kuching maintaining their offensive onslaught. Both teams had moments hitting the woodwork, with IPD Miri attempting a long-range shot and Pulapol Kuching’s striker narrowly missing the goalpost.

Pulapol Kuching’s No. 11 player once again found the net, marking his second goal of the match and further solidifying the team’s advantage. Towards the match’s conclusion, IPD Miri struggled against Pulapol Kuching’s relentless attacks, eventually conceding a penalty and allowing a fourth goal.

In a final effort, IPD Miri managed to score a consolation goal via a penalty awarded after a contentious sliding tackle by Pulapol Kuching.

The ceremony saw the presentation of the trophy and medals by Sarawak Police Commissioner Datuk Mancha Ata and Deputy Police Commissioner Datuk Ibrahim Darus.
