KUCHING: The Premier of Sarawak Industry Excellence Awards (PSIEA) is a platform to nominate successful local businesses for recognition at the national level.

Sarawak Business Federation (SBF) president Datuk Seri Abang Abdul Karim Tun Openg said the awards, now in their fifth edition, offer a platform for high-performing businesses in Sarawak to step up and eventually represent the state on a bigger stage.

“This award starts at the state level, then goes to the national level.

“Our goal is to nominate Sarawakians who have proven themselves — not just to succeed in Sarawak, but to also make their mark nationally,” he said.

He said this during the PSIEA launch at TEGAS Digital Village here today.

Since it was introduced in 2017, PSIEA has served as a key effort under SBF to support the state’s industrial ecosystem by recognising businesses that show strong values, direction, and consistency in performance.

Abang Abdul Karim said the award has become the highest state-level recognition of its kind and continues to work closely with Malaysia Productivity Corporation (MPC) to maintain a credible selection process.

He also encouraged more companies to take part this year, describing the PSIEA as a stepping stone for transformation, sharing of best practices, and building long-term business standards.

“With strong interest from a prominent local bank in PSIEA 2025, we’re looking at future partnerships that can add value and continuity to this programme,” he added.
