KUCHING: The Malaysia Productivity Corporation (MPC), in strategic collaboration with the Sarawak Business Federation (SBF) and the Sarawak government, has reaffirmed its commitment to driving productivity and industrial excellence with the official launch of the Premier of Sarawak Industry Excellence Awards (PSIEA) 2025.
Now in its fifth edition, PSIEA 2025 carries the theme “Environmental, Sustainability, Economic Prosperity, and Inclusive Society” and was launched today at the Auditorium of TEGAS Digital Village in Sama Jaya High-Tech Park.
The event was officiated by Deputy Minister for International Trade, Industry and Investment, Datuk Malcom Mussen Lamoh, who represented Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan.
Held biennially since 2017, the award aims to elevate Sarawak’s industries to the national stage through participation in the Anugerah Kecemerlangan Industri (AKI), Malaysia’s national industry excellence awards, administered by the Ministry of Investment, Trade, and Industry (MITI).
MPC Sarawak director Dr Mazlina Shafi’i said the awards programme will evaluate industries across four categories: micro, small, medium and large enterprises, using the Malaysia Business Excellence Framework (MBEF), the same assessment system used at the national level.
“This award aims to identify best practices among industries in Sarawak that contribute to the state’s economic development and serve as role models, inspiring healthy competition and motivation within the local business community.”
She encouraged entrepreneurs throughout Sarawak to view PSIEA as a stepping stone toward greater competitiveness.
“I urge all entrepreneurs and industries in Sarawak to take the first step towards business excellence as part of our collective efforts to create more excellent and competitive organisations.
“Aligned with the competitiveness framework that measures business efficiency through organisational agility, I believe this award will serve as a catalyst to promote the Business Excellence (BE) concept and build a stronger BE community in Sarawak.”
PSIEA is recognised as a prestigious platform that not only enhances the public image and credibility of participating businesses but also promotes a culture of continuous improvement.
Participating organisations will benefit from comprehensive assessments, gaining valuable insights into their strengths and areas for enhancement to become more competitive at both national and international levels.
MPC Sarawak has called on all eligible industries to participate in PSIEA 2025, highlighting its potential to foster excellence, strengthen customer confidence, improve service quality, and attract investment.
Award recipients will also serve as industry benchmarks, making meaningful contributions to Sarawak’s broader economic development agenda.
