KUCHING: Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB) Youth Central secretariat has reported a Facebook user to the police regarding his posting about the party’s president Datuk Seri Wong Soon Koh.
The group filing the report was headed by PSB deputy youth central chief Sze Khuan San accompanied by five other members at Padungan police station here yesterday.
On his Facebook page, the user posted a picture of Wong with a caption that read ‘Wanted Person’.
PSB Youth Central explained that they took the post seriously because a ‘Wanted Person’ is a criminal wanted by the authorities.
“The allegation is very unfair given that he is Bawang Assan assemblyman and a former second minister of finance and minister of international trade and e-commerce,” PSB Youth Central said in a statement yesterday.
PSB added that as an independent and multiracial political party, it saw the person’s action as a threat to Wong’s safety.
“No one can label another person a criminal until it is proven according to the law because every citizen is innocent until proven guilty.
“The purpose of the police report was to clear Wong’s name and ensure his safety as he is an influential individual and a public figure,” it further stressed.
