KUCHING: Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB) may even contest in all the 82 election seats, said its president Datuk Seri Wong Soon Koh.
He said PSB can contest in any number of seats because it is a party on its own and not affiliated to any other parties.
“We can contest 50, 60 or even all the 82 seats in the forthcoming election (12th State Election), we will fly our party flag throughout Sarawak including in the rural areas,” he said during the PSB Year of the Rat celebration dinner last night.
“I have left Sarawak Cabinet and the whole of PSB is a free party. During the election, we will stand anywhere and we will definitely become a force to be reckoned with,” Wong said.
He said PSB has a vision and mission to develop the community and ensure the stability of the multi-racial community in Sarawak on the principle of fairness, equality and respect.
He said PSB will not adopt a confrontational stand but “will arm ourselves with facts, figures and data and present our stand steadfastly to the federal government stating our legitimate rights and interests of the people of Sarawak”.
“We will convince them that building of a stable, progressive and united Malaysian society can only be done on the basis of equality, justice and mutual respect among all three component territories,” he stressed.
He said PSB approach is that of quiet and patient negotiation, fully aware of the pride and sensitivities of the component territories.
“But we will make sure we do not suffer or are made the victims of unfair or unjust action and policies.
“We should not hesitate to signal our opposition and take the necessary strong action. There is a bottom line beyond which PSB is not prepared to concede. Our position is one of seeking fairness, justice and equality for Sarawak within the framework of the constitution,” he said.
Wong denied that PSB is a communist party “as some said on social media”.
