KUCHING: Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) remains steadfast in prioritising women’s involvement in politics, ensuring that its women’s wing remains an integral part of the party’s growth and leadership.

In stating this, PRS President Datuk Joseph Salang Gandum praised ongoing efforts to elevate women within the party’s structure.

He stressed the importance of visibility, urging the women’s wing to identify and nurture potential female leaders who could take on key roles in the party and government.

“We already have women representing us in Parliament and the Senate, but we must do more to encourage and support our female members to contest in state and parliamentary elections,” he said in his speech at the PRS Women’s Wing International Women’s Day 2025 celebration here, last night (Mar 22).

Salang also highlighted PRS’s dedication to appointing more women as councillors and key office bearers, reinforcing the importance of gender inclusivity.

“Every time we appoint new councillors, I personally ensure that more women are included. Women bring valuable perspectives and contributions to leadership,” he stated.
