KUCHING: The Ministry of Works will refine the procedures involving minor infrastructure projects worth RM200,000 that are supervised by other agencies.
Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi said the refined procedures would involve technical and safety aspects.
“We need to refine the procedures in terms of technical and safety aspects because their (agencies) capabilities may not be the same at the external level of the ministry.
“However, small projects have already been implemented by other ministries. Hence the need to refine the list of projects that we will delegate to other agencies,” he told the media during his Gawai Dayak open house held at his residence in Jalan Lapangan Terbang yesterday (June 13).
Nanta, who is the Kapit MP, said a meeting on the handover of projects would be held soon.
He explained that projects under RM200,000 are different from the RM50 million development projects for Sabah and Sarawak.
The RM50 million projects have already been handed over to the Sarawak Public Works Department (PWD).
“The implementation of projects from ministries or PWD at the federal government level have already been delegated their implementation to PWD Sarawak,” he said.
Among those present at the open house were Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, and Deputy Premiers Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas and Datuk Seri Sim Kui Hian.
