KUCHING: Preparations for the 2024 Gawai Dayak Cultural Parade, set to take place tomorrow, are progressing smoothly.

The parade, which embraces the concept of “Segulai Sejalai” (Together in Unity), will commence at the Tun Jugah Building on Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman and conclude at the main stage on Kuching Waterfront, covering a distance of 1.3 kilometres.

Scheduled to start at 2 pm, the event is expected to be graced by Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.

Among the attendees will also be Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, who serves as the 2024 Gawai Dayak Celebration Committee chairman, and Minister of Education, Innovation, and Talent Development Datuk Seri Roland Sagah Wee Inn, who is also the 2024 Gawai Dayak Celebration Organising Committee chairman.

This year’s parade will feature 3,300 participants across 110 contingents.

Meanwhile, due to the parade, several roads will be closed, including Jalan Market/Jalan Masjid, Jalan Gambier/Jalan Power, Jalan Old Court House/Jalan Khoo Hun Yeang, Jalan Carpenter, Jalan Wawasan/Jalan Lebuh Wayang, Jalan Lebuh Wayang/Jalan Main Bazaar, Jalan Padungan/Jalan Bukit Mata, Jalan Abell traffic light/Jalan Petanak, and Sri Aman roundabout/Jalan Abell junction.

As such, visitors are advised to park at various locations either at the Reservoir Park, Bangunan Saujana, Taman Budaya, Top Spot car park, Sarawak Plaza car park, Civic Centre, Tun Jugah building, Medan Pelita building, Plaza Merdeka car park, or Plaza Aurora car park.
