KUALA LUMPUR: Five hundred packets of ‘bubur pedas’ (savoury porridge) were distributed to students of higher education institutions as well as the public here.
Distribution of the savoury porridge was held during the Malaysian Government Servants Welfare and Sports Council (MAKSAK) Sarawak’s Bopedas and Donation programme in conjunction with Ramadan 2024 at the Sarawak Foundation, here yesterday.
The distribution of the savoury porridge was officiated by Premier’s wife, Puan Sri Datuk Amar Juma’ani Tun Tuanku Bujang, who is also the MAKSAK Sarawak Women advisor.
This programme was held to ease the longing of Sarawakians here as the traditional dish is hardly found in the restaurant or Ramadan bazaars in Peninsular Malaysia.
Following a symbolic preparation of the savoury porridge, Juma’ani and other guests distributed the dish to the public.
Earlier, Juma’ani along with MAKSAK Sarawak Women’s Exco led by its chairperson Datin Amar Baduyah Bujang took part in the MAKSAK Cares Donation programme.
The donation, in the form of cash donation and ‘kek lapis’ (layered cake), was handed over to 28 employees serving at the Sarawak Liaison Office and Sarawak Foundation, Kuala Lumpur.
Also present at the event were Sarawak Foundation director Mersal Abang Rosli and his wife Noraini Adenan as well as other invited guests.
