KUCHING: Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg has sent his warmest Chinese New Year wishes to the people of Sarawak, especially the Chinese community, as they prepare to celebrate the Year of the Snake.
In his message, the Premier reflected on the symbolism of the Year of the Snake, which is associated with wisdom, intuition, and transformation.
He encouraged Sarawakians to embrace these qualities as they navigate the year ahead, which promises to be filled with opportunities and challenges.
“Let us learn from the past and move forward with wisdom, awareness, and compassion,” he urged.
The Premier asserted that Chinese New Year plays a significant role in fostering unity and harmony among the people of Sarawak.
He noted that the tradition of visiting one another strengthens the bonds between people, regardless of their backgrounds.
“For all of us in this diverse state, the Chinese New Year is not just a celebration for one community, but a time for everyone to come together,” he said.
As such, he expressed hope that the festive season would continue to serve as a platform for promoting peace and understanding among Sarawak’s various ethnic and religious groups.
“Let us all continue to work towards strengthening unity in Sarawak, where we celebrate our differences and embrace the values that make us stronger together.
“May this new year bring good health, happiness, and success to all of us,” he added.
