Premier conveys condolences on Tun Abdullah’s passing

The Premier and his wife express condolences on the passing of former Prime Minister Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi.

KUCHING: Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg has extended his heartfelt condolences to Tun Jeanne Abdullah and family following the passing of former Prime Minister Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi last night (Apr 14).

In an official statement posted on the Sarawakku Facebook page today (Apr 15), Abang Johari, together with his wife, Puan Sri Datuk Amar Juma’ani Tun Tuanku Bujang, expressed their deepest sympathies in a condolence letter to the family.

“We hope that Tun Jeanne and family will remain patient in facing this trial, and may everything be made easier for you.

“His passing is undoubtedly a great loss to the country.

“On behalf of my family and the people of Sarawak, I pray that Allah SWT showers His mercy upon the soul of the late Tun and grants him a place among the righteous. Amin,” he said in the letter.

He noted that Abdullah, who served as Malaysia’s fifth Prime Minister from 2003 to 2009, had rendered unwavering service to the nation.

Abdullah breathed his last at 7.10 pm at the National Heart Institute, Kuala Lumpur at the age of 85.

Additionally, Abang Johari said that Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof represented the Sarawak government at the National Funeral Ceremony, which took place today at the National Mosque earlier today at 11am.
