KUCHING: Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg was briefed on the upcoming 11th PSEA Award and its significance in promoting environmental sustainability in Sarawak.

A delegation from the Natural Resources and Environment Board (NREB) Sarawak and the main organising committee of the Premier of Sarawak Environmental Award (PSEA) paid a courtesy call on Abang Johari at Wisma Bapa Malaysia today.

“Premier of Sarawak Environmental Award (PSEA) has been a significant biennial event since its inception in 2001, formerly known as the Chief Minister Environmental Award (CMEA),”said NREB in a press statement after the courtesy visit.

As a prestigious platform to recognise outstanding contributions to environmental sustainability, the PSEA plays a vital role in promoting environmental awareness and responsibility among businesses, organizations, and individuals in Sarawak.

“Since its establishment, the PSEA has evolved, with the 11th edition (PSEA 2023/2024) marking a milestone,” it said.

A total of 212 entries were received, the highest number in the history of the award, surpassing the 144 entries in the 10th CMEA (2021/2022) and 106 entries in the 9th CMEA (2019/2020).
