SIBU: The Sibu Municipal Council (SMC) is kicking off the New Year with a spring-cleaning initiative that will be held from Feb 1 until Feb 9 in preparation for the festive season.

“In conjunction with the upcoming Chinese New Year celebration, Sibu Municipal Council will put roll-on-roll-off (RORO) bins at several areas for bulky waste disposal during the period,” SMC said in a statement on Wednesday (Jan 24).

The areas involved are Jalan Suarah (parking area), Jalan Rantau Panjang Jaya, Lorong Wawasan 9E, Jalan Indah, Jalan Jasmin (beside MUC), Rejang Park Commercial area (behind Zenith Mint Complex), Jalan Apollo Shophouses (parking area) and Lorong Taman Seduan 6 (behind Hwai Ang Methodist Church).

Other areas are Lorong Ulu Sg Merah 18F, Satria Shophouses (pParking area), Lorong Merdeka 14 (Xi Ann Park), Jalan Mantis (behind SACOFA), Jalan Tiong Hua (Old Tiong Hua Road market site), Lorong Bukit Lima Timur 14 (near basketball court), Lorong Salim 28 and Lorong Upper Lanang 32.

“SMC reserves the absolute right to amend the list of locations from time to time,” they added.

“The council is committed to providing efficient and effective municipal solid wastes collection with full cooperation from our communities, businesses, and various stakeholders.

“This is in line with our mission of transforming our town into a sustainable, liveable city by 2031”.
