KUCHING: Toilet facilities at Klinik Kesihatan Tanah Puteh are far from adequate and Bandar Kuching MP Dr Kelvin Yii is none too pleased.
Today he and a contractor visited the health clinic to come up with ideas to make the necessary improvements.
The clinic presently does not have any toilet for people with disabilities (OKU) and many cubicles there also do not have hand rails for elderly patients to hold on to.
Dr Yii pointed out that this is rather dangerous and there have been complaints from the public about how they almost fell while using the toilet facilities.
“Few months back I paid a courtesy visit to the Kuching Division Health Office to find out their plans to upgrade the toilets. I was informed that they are still waiting for approval and budgeting.
“So, I offered to assist and followed the required procedure to apply and assist in the building of the toilets,” he said in a social media post.
Dr Yii stated that once the contractor finishes the design, it still needs to be submitted to the Kuching Division Health Office for approval as well as the council.
“We do hope this process can be expedited so we can start with the construction of toilets as it is for the convenience and safety for the staff and public,” he said.
