MIRI: Police have seized 13 straw tubes containing suspected methamphetamine during a raid in Batu Niah town, leading to the arrest of two men.
The drugs, weighing 5 grams in total, are estimated to have a street value of RM550, according to Miri District Police Chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu.
He said the arrests were made by officers and personnel from the Miri Narcotics Criminal Investigation Division around 4pm on Thursday (Dec 12).
The suspects include a local man and a foreign national.
The case is being investigated under Section 39A(1) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, which carries penalties of imprisonment between two and five years and three to nine strokes of the cane upon conviction.
The suspects were remanded for four days following a court application to facilitate further investigations.
