SIBU: Police are investigating an early morning shooting incident that occurred at Jalan Lada here on Thursday (Dec 26).
Sibu police chief ACP Zulkipli Suhaili said preliminary investigations at the scene revealed that four shots were fired using a firearm, targeting a house and a car belonging to the victim.
“No injuries were reported in this incident,” he said in statement.
The suspects, believed to be more than one person, was using a black Toyota Vios.
“The motive of the shooting remains under investigation, and efforts are being intensified to track down those responsible,” he said.
Zulkipli said the case is being investigated under Section 39 of the Arms Act 1960 and Section 427 of the Penal Code for discharging a firearm and committing mischief by damaging property.
Earlier, at 1.54 am, the police received information from a member of the public who heard a loud explosion near a house.
Meanwhile, the police urged anyone with information related to the case to come forward and assist in the investigation by contacting the nearest police station or the investigating officer, Inspector Muhammad Abu Bakar Roshidi, at 012-8774241.
