MIRI: The Miri District police headquarters (IPD) together with the People’s Volunteer Corps (Rela) and Aman Wanita (Amanita) on Wednesday (July 7) via Ops Bantu delivered 10 food packs to the needy.
Ops Bantu was launched by the Home Ministry on Tuesday (July 6) to help those facing food shortages during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Through Ops Bantu, all IPDs nationwide would serve as food aid distribution centres.
Led by Miri deputy OCPD Supt Mohd Sabri Zainol, the team went from house to house to deliver the food packs worth more than RM50 each.
Each food pack contained a packet of 10kg rice, two cans of sardines, assorted biscuits, instant noodles, seasoning items, a packet of flour and a can of milk.
“It’s a two-day programme, which started today (Wednesday), and we will go to another 10 households tomorrow,” said Supt Mohd Sabri.
