BINTANGOR: Police are seeking public assistance in investigations into the discovery of an unidentified man in Sungai Penasu last month.
Meradong district police chief DSP Sekam Anoi said the body, which was found floating in the river around 8.10 pm on Aug 28, was clad in dark trousers without a shirt.
“It is believed that the body had been in the water for over five days based on the level of decomposition and the foul odour.
“No identification documents were found on the body,” he said in a statement.
The remains are currently at the Sarikei Hospital mortuary.
Sekam urged members of the public who may have lost relatives, aged between 30 and 50, to come forward to the Bintangor police station to help with identification.
Those with information can also contact assistant investigating officer Sgt Mujok Seli at 011-25068028 or the police station at 084-691150.
