Ode to a Father
He knew
He took me to the forest
Perched on his shoulders
For as a todder, I couldn’t walk far
Yes, my dad, he knew
He knew
My eyes are my windows
Through which I would see
The wonders of his world
The beauty of the rainforest
He knew
Without having to say a single word
To let the forest speak to me, directly
Perched on his shoulders
I had the best seat in paradise
He knew
Two hearts, on the same road
Two views, one destination
To the forest we went, in unison
A father and his son, of the same code

A Good Morning
I love mornings, they are always filled with goodness
Their gradual state of wakefulness
Unveils the beauty of the landscape
They wipe away the nothingness
of the passing night’s escape
I love the mornings, they carry no baggage
They are unburdened by the past
But are full of the anticipation of the day
And as each morning progresses
Our vision sharpens at the sun’s brightness
Helping us see, our way for the day
That’s why I love mornings, they bring clarity of vision
Their awareness unveils, the shifting landscape
Mornings help soften the eyes, making the heart grow fonder
Mornings bring realisation, inducing tears to the eyes
I love mornings, mornings have power
Tender as the mist, and soft as the dews
Both a clinging to the early morning hours
We begin the day with such tender politeness
Earnestly wishing one another, a very good morning

The Millennium Tree
I saw a picture of a 1000-year old tree
A sprite old lady, still healthy as can be
An old tree, in the old continent of Africa
O what she’d witnessed in the millennia!
She would have witnessed man’s migration
From out of Africa, to the rest of the world
Of climate changes, shifting environments
Change a constant, yet the globe is whole
Change from a Stone Age, to a Space Age
The rise and fall of numerous civilisations
Battles royale, innumerable insurrections
A drama of pride, prejudice and bloodshed
The rise and fall, of shades of civilisations
The bloodshed and deaths, in their wake
Wars and killings, are hate manifestations
Technology with curses, of souls they shake
People now hate each other, much more
Much more than back then, before
This is inevitable, ‘tis just human nature
Our history says, mistake is our nature
The Millineum Tree, saw it over and over
That man as a species, is not that clever
Of his angelic side he chooses to ignore
His human nature, besmirched with gore

Curried in The Fire
I once saw, with my eyes in a dream
Post a meal, of steamin’ hot curry
Hordes of people, were a clinging
To each other tightly hugging
They seemed not, to be in a hurry
All trapped, in a nightmarish dream
It was a golden world, but a steaming
As if they were full of fear, and in guilt
I began to cry, as I was watching
It was so real, a vision disconcerting
I woke up startled, into the night’s still
In the real world, so much is happening
So beware, the meal of piping hot curry
A temptation, it is seeking a dare
But be warned, the wrong end of the trick
It will beat you up, with such a kick
You’ll have nothing more to say
Just sullen surrender, feeling sorry

A True North
I stopped by, the side of the road
Watching the scene, standing before me
A majestic scenery, of nature’s full load
Of cascading falls, unfolding before me
The power of raw water, in full display
A live painting, on a canvas of green
The artist’s touch, in awesomeness portray
Of man’s feeble deed, a flimsy hut is seen
O is this scene telling, teaching me
Do I choose to open, my eyes to see
Or to go on unmoved, with my journey
And my heart closed, blindness my destiny
Better to realise, to learn in humility
Opening up my heart, to love’s homily
In doing so, I’d align my true destiny
A True North, set on the heavenly
