SIBU: The recitation of the poem ‘Pembawa Panji-Panji’ will be the highlight of the Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) central zone branches conference tomorrow (Jan 11), said Datuk Dr Annuar Rapaee.
The PBB vice president said that the poem narrates the political journey of Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, highlighting his many successes and achievements in leading Sarawak towards becoming a high-income region.
“That is what I feel is the most unique aspect of tomorrow’s event, apart from the involvement of the pro-tem Youth 1828 Wing of PBB for the very first time,” he said when speaking to reporters at the rehearsal for the convention at Sibu Indoor Stadium today (Jan 10).
Meanwhile, regarding preparations, the Nangka assemblyman said yesterday’s focus was on rehearsals to ensure the smooth running of today’s event, during which Abang Johari is expected to arrive at 10 am.
“Alhamdulillah, the rehearsals this afternoon seem to have gone very well, and we will rehearse again, particularly the read the pledge (membaca ikrar) segment, where we aim to involve the elders, women, youth, and young members to demonstrate that PBB is an inclusive party,” he said.
A total of 2,700 attendees are expected to attend the conference, comprising 1,128 individuals from the 24 branches, with each branch sending 47 delegates.
“We have also invited veterans from each branch, as well as those residing in Sibu,” he added.
Also present at the rehearsal were PBB vice president cum Women chief Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah and PBB elected exco member Safiee Ahmad.
