KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim will continue the tradition of the MADANI Aidilfitri this year by celebrating Eid with the people in eight states.

The Prime Minister’s senior press secretary Tunku Nashrul Abaidah said the Prime Minister will start by heading to Melaka on April 5, which will also be the national-level celebration.

It will be followed by Selangor (April 6), Pahang (April 11), Kelantan and Penang (April 12), Sarawak (April 19), Perak (April 25) and Perlis (April 27).

“Just like last year, the MADANI Aidilfitri Celebration will be jointly organised by the federal government with the state government as the hosts.

“Insya-Allah, the Prime Minister will attend the celebration in all states, together with their Menteri Besar and Chief Ministers,” he said at the Prime Minister’s Office daily briefing.

It was streamed live on Anwar Ibrahim and PMO Malaysia’s Facebook pages yesterday.

Tunku Nashrul said the Prime Minister also invited all Malaysians to come together and celebrate noble values and the spirit of love, respect and goodwill that have been the pillar of Malaysia’s strength for so long.

It will be jointly organised by the state government as the host, and the National Unity Ministry as the lead ministry.

The statement said that in line with the theme ‘Ihsan Menyentuh Jiwa, Toleransi Menyatu Negara’, the event will reflect the government’s aspiration to strengthen noble values such as love, tolerance and respect among the multi-racial people in the country.

“It is hoped that it can instill a spirit of togetherness that transcends differences in background and understanding, in line with the desire to build a society that understands and appreciates each other,” the statement read.
