KUCHING: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri has agreed to address issues faced by homeowners in Kampung Tunku, Jalan Astana in Petra Jaya whose houses have been damaged in the process of constructing a sewer system in the area.
Senior Works Minister and Petra Jaya MP Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof, revealed this in a Facebook post today (Oct 23) after the prime minister paid a surprise visit to one of the affected homeowners today.
“Alhamdulillah, thank you YAB (Yang Amat Berhomat) prime minister who cares about the people, by going down to the field by surprise and to see for himself the problems faced by the people.
“He (Ismail Sabri) has agreed to help address the issues faced by the people in the area,” he said.
Today, after a working visit to the Petra Jaya Hospital project, Ismail Sabri had personally gone to inspect the house condition of Dzuraini Malek in Lot 1988, Lorong B3, Kampung Tunku which is one of the severely affected houses, and had personally asked the homeowners on the problems encountered.
He was accompanied by Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg and Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan.
“Thank you also to the Chief Minister of Sarawak, who has given serious attention to this issue and directed that action be taken to help the people,” Fadillah said.
He added that he later had also stopped by at several houses in Kampung Tunku to express to them the concern of the prime minister.
“I hope that the problems faced by residents in Kampung Tunku who are affected by the sewerage project will be addressed immediately for the wellbeing of the ‘Malaysian Family’,” he said.
Fadillah also informed that the Public Works Department had recently investigated and assessed the damage to 226 houses in Kampung Tunku that were affected due to the sewerage project.
