Pillion rider dies at home after crash

MIRI: A female pillion rider, involved in a car-motorcycle collision last Friday night (Aug 14) at Jalan Bintang traffic light intersection here, has died.

Angelyn Lunda Wilson, 23, died in her house in Pujut 5, nearly one hour after the collision occurred that night.

She had just started her first day at work at a shopping mall at Jalan Bintang.

According to the State Traffic Investigation and Enforcement department chief Superintendent Alexson Naga Chabu, Angelyn was pronounded dead by Miri medical personnel on Friday around 10.45pm. They had rushed to her house upon responding to an emergency call on her condition.

Prior to her death, Angelyn and her 27-year-old boyfriend was involved in a collision with a 4-wheel drive at the Jalan Bintang traffic light intersection around 9.10pm that Friday (Aug 14).

As a result of the accident, the motorcycle was damaged on the front side.

“In the incident, Angelyn was thrown out off the motorcycle and landed on the road. She suffered injuries on her forehead while her boyfriend sustained injuries on his face,” said Alexson.

Instead of seeking treatment at a hospital, both of them went home.

“They decided to go to the hospital the next day (Saturday) even though the driver of the 4WD advised them to go the hospital that night,” said Alexson.

While resting at home in Pujut 5 that night, Angelyn encountered difficulties in breathing and suffered from abdominal pain, prompting her boyfriend to call up Miri Hospital.
