BINTULU: A local man died on the spot after his pick-up truck crashed into a trailer carrying blocks of concrete along Jalan Kemena early this morning.
Bintulu district police chief Supt Batholomew Umpit in a statement, said the fatal accident happened around 5.15am near a factory.
Investigation found that the victim, who was driving his pick-up truck from Kemena to Bintulu market, had crashed into the trailer parked by the roadside.
Due to the crash impact, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics present.
Batholomew added that efforts to locate the driver of the trailer is underway and the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
“Anyone who witnessed the accident is advised to contact investigating officer Insp Jeffery Jembol at 086-338575.
“Members of the public are also reminded not to park their vehicles on the side of the main road, which can create obstacles and cause danger to other road users, especially at night,” he said.
