BINTULU: Physical activities such as running and cycling are important to cultivate healthy and balanced lifestyles.

Jepak assemblyman Iskandar Turkee said such activities also play a role in fostering racial integration, building a spirit of unity, and strengthening relationships and a sense of belonging among the community.

Therefore, he hoped that more parties would come forward to organise such activities and suggested Petronas make the Bintulu-Jepak Bridge the venue.

He was speaking at the Petronita Orchid Run and Ride (ORR) 2024 programme held at the Spring Mall Bintulu, on Saturday.

A total of 2,500 participants participated in the inaugural activity held in conjunction with Petronas’ 50th anniversary celebration.

Earlier, Petronas Wives and Staff Association (Petronita) Bintulu chairwoman Mary Disu said ORR was conceived by Petronita in 2015 to raise funds for welfare purposes in Malaysia as well as promote healthy living through sports and recreation.

According to her, the ORR activity was inspired by the Australian Daffodil Day which is one of the main annual campaigns of the Cancer Society.
