KUCHING: Petronas feted local media to a Chinese New Year dinner to foster relations and strengthen support in the Sarawak region.

Stit Azlina Abdul Latif, the company’s group strategic relations and communications senior general manager, expressed appreciation to all the media organisations in Sarawak for the unwavering support and dedication to Petronas.

She noted that the media’s commitment plays a key role in helping the company grow and transform.

“We are honoured to have this valuable opportunity to network with all of you,” said Siti Azlina during the dinner at Hilton Hotel on Friday (Jan 24).

Petronas remains committed to continue sustaining and building relationship with Sarawak media through various programmes and activities.

“We are planning to have programmes such as media familiarisation trips, festive engagements, workshops, the Energy Asia 2025 conference in June and, of course, the Kenyalang Journalism Awards sponsorship.

“As we welcome the Lunar Year of the Snake, we’re reminded of its symbolism of personal growth through wisdom, intuition, and transformation.

“This year, the snake aligns with the wood element, highlighting flexibility, creativity, and resilience — qualities that inspire me and will guide us toward positive change and growth.

“In Malaysia and especially in Sarawak, we are fortunate to share a tapestry of cultures and traditions that we can celebrate together,” she said.

This year, Petronas has released it’s Chinese New Year webfilm titled, “Tetap Di Sini” or “Stay”, which is now available to watch on YouTube and Facebook.

The film tells the heartfelt story of a young boy called Xiao Bao and his family, exploring themes of love and resilience, amid hardship.

“We hope this film will inspire all Malaysians to continue fostering unity and support for one another, strengthening the bonds that define us as a nation.

“May the Year of the Snake bring us all good fortune, success, and continued collaboration,” she said.
