KUCHING: Hawkers and traders of the Petanak Market yesterday (Sept 28) received contribution in the form of face shields from the Kuching South City Council (MBKS).

The personal protective equipment were distributed by MBKS mayor Datuk Wee Hong Seng and its councillors.

Wee said the aim of the donation is to ensure that all hawkers who operating under the MBKS jurisdiction are fully protected while serving customers.

“This is one of the council’s proposed safety measures for the pandemic. We are making every effort to curb the spread of Covid-19 among hawkers and customers,” he said.

He also took the opportunity to remind all business premises under MBKS and the public to always adhere to the standard operating procedures (SOPs) set by the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC).

Wee also advised hawkers to always stay alert and updated with the latest SOPs announced by SDMC.

“MBKS is very strict when it comes to the compliance of the SOPs. We all need to work together and play our role as a responsible citizen,” he added.
