SIBU: Parti Bangsa Malaysia (PBM) intends to expand its membership throughout Malaysia in line with its multi-racial national party.

Its president Datuk Larry Sng said membership was not only concentrated in Sarawak but his target is now in Sabah.

“PBM is targeting at least 1,000 members in every state constituency in Sabah.

“We not only want to expand the party membership but also intend to produce more people’s representatives at both state and parliamentary levels,” he said at a press conference during the launch of the new PBM logo held at a prominent hotel here yesterday (Dec 14).

The Julau Member of Parliament said PBM as a multi -racial -based party will ensure that all the states will have its divisions or branches.

“Our membership is not only concentrated in Julau but in other areas including Peninsular Malaysia. Our members are not only Chinese but Iban, Malay, Dayak, and Indians and Kadazan-Dusun which is in line with our party’s name,” he said. .

Sng highlighted that besides to have more membership, the party is also targeting to have more seats for the party which is part of the Unity Government.

Touching on the new logo launched by the PBM, he stated it had been approved by the Registrar of Societies (ROS) on September 12.

“With the launch of the party’s new logo, we hope it brings new image, for election use in Sabah or in the upcoming elections such as state or general elections

“This is the way our party moves forward, the purple colour we believe is unique. New logo with one hand signifies the freedom of democracy and social justice while purple, represents openness, sincerity,” he pointed out.

Commenting further, Sng said originally the PBM started from the Sabah People Front Party registered in 2010 and after 2012 the party was renamed Sarawak Workers Party (SWP).

And then by 2021, he said, it was renamed the PBM where its registration was approved by ROS on October 27, 2021.

“We now have nearly 100,000 members nationwide,” he added.

Meanwhile, Sng also stated PBM intends to contest in the Sabah State Election (PRN) to be held at any time.

He said the party would provide autonomy and authority for the party leader in the state to determine the candidates and several potential seats to contest.

“As a party based on racial and ethnic diversity, we intend to contest the Sabah PRN.

“The PBM has membership not only in Sarawak but also in Sabah and Peninsular Malaysia. We also hope to have as many seats and representatives as we develop the party.”Let the Sabahans th

emselves decide on their candidates, or select their candidates and also identify the seats they want to contest,” he said.

According to him, the party leadership in Sabah knows who the individual or the potential area to contest.
“My job is simple, I only sign the letter for any individual and the seat to be contested is up to the state leadership. They know more.

“This is the party’s way, any of its presidents in the future cannot make their own decisions and even need other top leaders to help,” he said.

He said the PBM had been moving since 2022 to date in certain areas of the state to serve the people.
“The Sabah PRN will be held at any time and the PBM has prepared its machinery. We hope the PBM will get a place in the Sabah PRN,” Jupri added.
