KUCHING: Parti Bansa Dayak Sarawak (PBDS) yesterday distanced itself from a Facebook’s post using its name against the state government regarding financial assistance to the recent flood victims.

Its information chief Andrew Bugie Ipang said the party has lodged complaints with the police and the relevant authorities against those individuals or perpetrators involved in the posting.

“I wish to inform the public that the party does not have official website or  account in TikTok, Facebook, Instagram, X (formerly Twitter) or other social media,” Bugie said in a statement.

He said PBDS is aware that there are irresponsible individuals out there using the name of the party to cast aspersions against the state authority in relation to financial grants allocated to assist those who were adversely affected by the recent floods.

Bugie said the culprits are neither authorised nor sanctioned to use the party’s name.

In a Facebook post, an individual using the name of PBDS has urged the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) government to channel the financial assistance of RM1,000  that was promised by GPS last February to the victims in the rural and urban areas badly affected by the floods in a number of districts.

The Facebook post was responding to another Facebook post by an account holder using the name Julau Update.

According to the post by Julau Update, the federal government had channelled RM25 million to the state government to help the flood victims last February.

However, the funds had yet to be distributed to the flood victims.
