KUCHING: While an anti-hopping law is good, Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah says more importantly, the public must be educated to not accept political frogs.

“The issue is not about having laws to stop party hopping. It is more on educating the public, party leaders and legislators on integrity as well as the evils of selling one’s position or seat for monetary, position or worldly gain.

“Unfortunately, this seems to be an ‘accepted’ trend now and one (party hopper) does not seem to have any remorse doing this,” the Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) vice-president said on Wednesday (Feb 23).

Abdul Karim also expressed his support for an anti-hopping law to stop the trend of political frogs.

In a recent report, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Law and Parliament) Datuk Seri Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar stated that the constitutional amendments, including the tabling of anti-hopping laws, were on track for the Dewan Rakyat sitting on Feb 28.
