MUKAH: Members of Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) have been reminded of the importance of reinforcingthe spirit of struggle within the party.

Deputy Minister in the Premier’s Department (Law, MA63, and State-Federal Relations) Datuk Sharifah Hasidah Sayed Aman Ghazali, who is also the PBB Women vice chief III,said such spirit has been instrumental in achieving significant milestones in advocating for Sarawak’s rights, particularly in the implementation of matters under the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63).

“One of the major achievements under MA63 is the recognition of Sarawak’s rights through the amendment of Article 1(2) of the Federal Constitution, which positions Sarawak as an equal partner in the Federation of Malaysia.

“Other successes include the implementation of the sales tax on petroleum products, which provides Sarawak with additional revenue of RM3 to RM4 billion annually,” she saidduring the PBB Balingian triennial general meeting held at Kingwood Resort here, recently.

Hasidah said the additional revenue has enabled the Sarawak government to implement the largest state budget in its history, focusing on rural development, people’s well-being, and education.

Earlier, the PBB Balingian, its Women and Youth wings held their respective meetings.

Hasidah said the ongoing leadership selection process for the party, from the grassroots level to the highest levels, is seen as an important step to strengthen the party and ensuring the sustainability of its cause.

She urged party members to understand the primary purpose of the selection process, which is to further empower the party.

“This process is not just about electing leaders but also about ensuring discipline and unity in fulfilling their responsibilities under the party constitution and the requirements of the Registrar of Societies (RoS),” she added.
