ENGKILILI: The Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Engkilili Branch handed over a donation of RM33,000 to the fire victims of the Rumah Panjang Peter Igoh Mujan Skrang here.
The donation was presented by PBB Engkilili branch chief Senator Susan Chemerai Anding, recently.
During the presentation ceremony, she reminded the residents of the longhouse to always be patience towards incidents that happened to them.
“Besides PBB, there are also other donations given out to the residents from non-governmental organisations (NGOs), individuals and the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) government,” she said.
The donations involved a total of 33 Heads of Household (KIR) with each KIR receiving RM1,000 to ease their burden.
The wooden longhouse collapsed in a fire incident last March 31, which also destroyed all the belongings of the residents.
The longhouse residents then made a request for the government to expedite the process of cleaning up the remains of the fire because they wanted to build a new longhouse on the site.
