SIBU: Two longhouses in the Bawang Assan constituency will have their parking areas upgraded at a total cost of RM160,000, funded under the Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) special allocation by Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.

The two longhouses are Rh Shia Dangol Tanjung Bekakap and Rh Bujang Uleh Sungai Passai.

The handover of the project documents to the contractor was officiated by Sibu Rural District Council (SRDC) Environment and Public Health Standing Committee chairman, Councillor Kelvin Lau.

Lau, who is also the Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) Bawang Assan chairman, said the project was among the issues reported by the community.

“So, my team conducted on-site inspections with local community leaders and council engineers last year, adjusting solutions based on the site conditions and overall needs.

“Although there has been a time gap between the inspections and implementation, to ensure the quality of the projects, our team will cooperate with the council’s engineering department to supervise the contractors’ work.
