SARIKEI: The government allocated over RM800,000 to implement various new projects in the Tanjong Manis parliamentary constituency to improve the wellbeing of folk in the area.
Tanjung Manis MP Ir Yusuf Abd Wahab said the initiative was implemented through various approaches such as the Rural Transformation Project (RTP), the Program Penambahbaikan Rumah Rakyat Miskin Sarawak (PPRMS), the Projek Mesra Rakyat and others.
Through PPMRS, he said, the government managed to repair 208 longhouse units ahead of the recent Gawai celebration.
“This project cost RM520,000 and has been fully implemented,” he said when contacted yesterday.
He said another project that was also implemented was the repair and upgrade of the Tabika Kemas Sungai Teras building costing RM100,000.
At the same time, he said, the government also allocated RM200,000 to build a new bridge leading to the church and school from Rh Jerah Jonathan Sare.
“Actually, many other projects have already been approved, we will announce them from time to time.
“In that regard, I really hope that all parties, especially the community of Tanjung Manis, will cooperate to facilitate their implementation.”
Earlier, he made a visit in conjunction with the Gawai celebration programme starting in Sebayang and Stalun on Sunday before being followed by Sare North and South.
Also present was Dr Udie Salleh, representing the Deputy Minister for Urban Planning, Land Administration and Environment, Datuk Len Talif Salleh, who is also the Kuala Rajang assemblyman.
The visit then continued with the Kerubong and Muara Payang communities on Wednesday while the next programme, in the N.42 Semop state assembly area, started yesterday.
