KUCHING: A total of 4,052 Muslims here received assistance from the Social Welfare Department (JKM).

Sarawak Minister for Women, Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development, Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah stated this at the Sejambak Kasih Aidilfitri programme at Majma Mall on yesterday (April 17).

“On another note, around 100 people, who have been invited to this programme, would receive RM100 in cash and hamper worth RM80.

“Those who are not able to attend this programme, RM100 will be credited into their respective accounts.”

She hoped that the programme would not only strengthen ties between the community and JKM but also showed that the Sarawak government was here to assist the less fortunate.

“We want this programme to also promote and provide awareness among the community about the welfare of this group.”

Fatimah also urged government agencies, private institutions and non- governmental organisations to continue assisting the needy, especially during the festive season.
