Over 200 Mukah residents to receive house keys

KUCHING: Over 200 family members from nearly 40 heads of households in Igan and Tian in the Mukah division will receive house keys for Rumah Spektra Permata (RSP) Igan and RSP Tian in stages starting from March 2023.

Housing Development Corporation (HDC) chief executive officer Mohamad Asman Ahmad said the 22 RSP units in Igan and 20 units in Tian were built using the Industrial Building System (IBS).

“The two RSP projects were built under the Village Expansion Scheme (SPK). The construction work of both projects started on Dec 14, 2019 and has now been fully completed including its paved road.

“In addition, work on upgrading the drainage system and water reticulation system for both schemes is also expected to start in February 2023,” he said.

He added that RSP Igan and Tian house units are both 850 square feet with three bedrooms, two bathrooms, living room, kitchen and parking.

Furthermore, SPK Igan is located approximately 50km from Mukah town, while SPK Tian is located approximately 100km from Mukah town and 20km from Pekan Daro.

With the families receiving their house keys soon, the house owners had all expressed their gratitude for the matter.

Marini Majapar, 34, one of the successful applicants of RSP Igan expressed her gratitude when her dream of owning her own home came true, after living with her parents for more than 30 years.

“Alhamdulillah, I am very grateful to the state government for providing the RSP programme for low-income groups to own a house,” she said.

Meanwhile, Asmahil Othman, 32, who will soon receive his house key at RSP Tian commended the state government’s initiative.

He said that the RSP programme is a pure initiative of the state government to help the B40 group, especially in rural areas.

“Besides the strategic location of RSP Tian which is close to basic facilities such as surau, schools and other areas, the travel distance to my workplace is also close,” he said.

For the record, RSP is one of the state government’s initiatives through HDC to bring change and development to rural areas by developing new settlements.

The housing financing is provided by Mutiara Mortgage & Credit Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of HDC with loan rates as low as one per cent.
