Over 1,300 delegates converge on Miri for PBB Northern Zone meeting

MIRI: The Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu Sarawak (PBB) Northern Zone Delegates Meeting is set to gather 1,386 delegates and observers from various branches this Saturday (Jan 18) at the Pullman Miri Hotel.

The attendees include 55 veteran members of the party. The event will be officiated by Sarawak Premier and PBB president Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg at 2pm.

The morning session will feature the presentation of four significant working papers. Senator Dato Awang Bemee Awang Ali Basah, the party’s legal advisor and former Youth secretary-general, will deliver the first paper on the PBB Constitution.

This will be followed by a presentation on the Post Covid-19 Development Strategy 2030 by Deputy Sarawak Secretary for Economic Planning and Development, Datuk Seri Dr Mohamad Abdullah Zaidel.

The third paper will address land matters, presented by Awang Zamari Awang Mahmud.

The session will conclude with a presentation on Sarawak government initiatives by Datuk Felicia Tan, permanent secretary of the Ministry of Women, Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development.

Speaking ahead of the event, Batu Danau assemblyman and PBB Northern Region publicity officer Dato Paulus Palu Gumbang expressed confidence in the preparations. “So far, everything is running well, and the team is quite satisfied with the progress.”

A final rehearsal was conducted on Friday (Jan 17), overseen by PBB deputy president and Second Minister for Resource Planning and Environment, Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan; alongside Datuk Rosey Yunus, chairperson of Bekenu PBB, Lambir assemblyman Datuk Dr Ripin Lamat and several key state ministers.

Rosey noted the importance of collaboration for the event’s success, stating, “We hope for full cooperation from all attendees to ensure everything proceeds smoothly. Any issues that arise can be addressed efficiently with collective effort.”

The meeting will bring together delegates from 18 branches across the northern zone, including Belaga, Murum, Jepak, Tanjung Batu, Kemena, Samalaju, Bekenu, Lambir, Piasau, Pujut, Senadin, Marudi, Telang Usan, Mulu, Bukit Kota, Batu Danau, Lawas and Bukit Sari.

This gathering aims to strengthen party unity and discuss key resolutions for the region’s development, reflecting PBB’s commitment to progress and inclusivity.
