A total of 1,032 eligible recipients in the constituency have yet to register for the Sarawak Basic Needs Assistance (SKAS).
An engagement session was held today to assist them with the registration process, while also providing an opportunity for those deemed ineligible to submit appeals.
According to the political secretary to the Premier of Sarawak, Samat Gani, the initiative ensures that no eligible recipient is left behind in accessing government aid, especially those in rural areas.
“This engagement session is part of the second phase of registration for Gedong district, ensuring that all qualified individuals can benefit from the assistance provided by the Sarawak government,” he said.
He said this during the engagement session held at the Gedong Community Hall.
In addition to SKAS registration, the session also facilitated the registration of Sarawak ID and Sarawak Pay (SPay) Global, with assistance from experienced officers and 12 trained volunteers from Satok.
The initiative was a joint effort involving the Gedong District Office, the Gedong Service Centre, and the support of Satok Volunteers, helping to speed up the registration and application process.
“This collaboration is crucial in ensuring the programme runs smoothly and benefits all involved.
“We greatly appreciate the strong response from the local community who came forward to register,” he added.
The two-day programme was also conducted concurrently at RTC Munggu Lalang Hall, Ulu Gedong.
