KUCHING: Ora Good Cat is heralding the future of sustainable driving in Malaysia, combining affordability, longevity, and eco-friendly innovation in electric vehicles.
The latest fully-electric offering from Great Wall Motor (GWM) in the Malaysian market, Ora Good Cat, underscores the brand’s commitment to cutting-edge electric vehicle technology.
Hosted by GWM’s dealer partner, Yu Lee Hong Autoworld Sdn Bhd, a compelling test drive event for Ora Good Cat was held on Monday (Dec 18), showcasing the vehicle’s impressive features.
Launched in Sarawak on Dec 10, Ora Good Cat boasts a remarkable range of 400 to 500km on a full charge, aligning with the growing trend of electric cars in the market. To sweeten the deal, the brand is offering an enticing rebate of RM20,000 until future updates.
Head of sales Ng Chee Phien pointed out the importance of embracing electric vehicles (EVs) as subsidised oil may phase out, resulting in higher prices and the eventual depletion of traditional fuel sources.
He highlighted Ora’s affordability, with a full charge costing below RM20 and maintenance averaging only RM300 per year over a decade.
“Ora is an electric vehicle designed for the future, offering a full charge of 400–500km and minimal maintenance costs. Currently, EVs are well-received in our market, aligning with the trend.
“For Ora, the cost of a full charge is below RM20, offering savings and minimal maintenance. Over 10 years, maintenance costs have been around RM3,000, averaging only RM300 per year, promoting EV affordability,” he said to New Sarawak Tribune.
Yu Lee Hong Autoworld Sdn Bhd, the exclusive seller in Sarawak, has already secured nearly 30 units sold, with five pending units waiting for deliveries. They plan to expand their presence by opening branches in Sibu, Bintulu, and Miri next year, covering the entire Sarawak region.
Ora Good Cat comes with a 4-in-1 package, including a complementary portable and home charger, a five-year/150,000km vehicle warranty, an eight-year/180,000km power battery warranty, and five times free labour service maintenance.
The vehicle features an aesthetically distinctive design, an ultra-high-strength steel body, and advanced safety measures, boasting over 416 electrical safety protection designs. The Contemporary Amperex Technology Co. Limited (CATL) battery, with an 8-year warranty, positions it for longevity and sustainability in the evolving electric vehicle landscape.
Economically, Ora Good Cat proves to be more cost-effective than traditional fuel cars, promising not only savings but also a potential lifespan of over 1 million kilometers.
The vehicle stands out with 24 active safety features, reaching the L2 level of automatic driving, and includes luxury features like a panoramic sunroof, smart parking, and a massage function, elevating the driving experience and making it a standout option in the market.
