BINTULU: The Bintulu district police conducted an Ops Lusuh on Thursday aimed at curbing theft of cables and copper wires that has been rampant in the district.

The operation was carried out on business premises selling second-hand goods throughout the district to check whether the traders were buying stolen goods.

At the same time, the police also sought the cooperation of licensed second-hand dealers not to buy any stolen goods.

The district police have been focussing on tackling the problem of cable theft at Sesco substations and theft of iron or copper at construction sites or shop houses that have not been completed.
