PADAWAN: Police here arrested five locals including a woman for various offences in an operation codenamed ‘Op Ambang Merdeka’ last Tuesday (Aug 30).
During the operation, the team managed to arrest four men for drugs offences and they are being investigated under Section 6 of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
The female suspect was arrested for operating an entertainment business without licence and is being investigated under Section 5(1) of the Entertainment Ordinance 2000.
Police said the operation led by Padawan deputy police chief DSP Lim Jaw Shyong involving 71 policemen, was carried out from 10pm until 2am.
A total of 13 police teams were formed to ensure the effectiveness of the operation in conjunction with the National Day celebration through five roadblocks and three crime prevention patrols.
Throughout the operation, the police had inspected a total of 841 people from 858 vehicles.
Meanwhile, the police also issued 26 traffic summonses to motorists for various traffic offences.
