SARIKEI: The contractors involved in the construction of the new Road Transport Department (RTD) Complex on Repok Road here have been given a one-month period to complete the project.
Director-general of RTD Datuk Rospiagos Taha said that essentially the construction of the complex was almost completed but still required some improvements before it could be fully operational.
He said this was due to the detection of several minor defects that needed to be rectified and ensured they could be addressed within the one-month period.
The construction of the new RTD Complex on Repok Road, he added, not only facilitated the agency’s operations but also provided greater convenience for the public in conducting related affairs.
Rospiagos made these remarks to the media after inspecting the progress of the project on Wednesday.
The project, which was approved in 2020, was supposed to be completed by December last year but was delayed due to various unavoidable factors including the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Once fully operational, the complex will be able to alleviate the burden on the public, who currently face congestion issues when dealing with transactions at the old RTD office here.
The complex, situated on a 4.85-hectare site, not only houses office buildings but also recreational sports facilities, impound lots, staff residences, and other operational necessities.
