BINTULU: A man died while five others were injured after a Perodua Bezza collided with a Perodua Iriz at Mile 6 Jalan Bintulu-Miri on Saturday.

The deceased has been identified as Alexson Richard Ding, 20, who was sitting in the front passenger seat of the Perodua Bezza.

Dansey Mayi Guyang, 23, who drove the car and Hillary Jimbat Edwin, 19, who sat in the back seat were injured, along with the Perodua Iriz’s male driver and two female passengers whose identities have not been ascertained.

According to Sarawak Fire and Rescue (Bomba) operations centre (PGO), they received a distress call on the accident at 4.09am that day and despatched 10 firemen from the Bintulu fire station and an EMRS (Emergency Medical Response Service) vehicle.

It was reported that the deceased was thrown out of the vehicle due to the impact from the collision and Hillary was trapped inside the vehicle.

An operation to extricate Hillary commenced at 4.23am and ended at 5.08am.

All of them have been taken to Bintulu Hospital.
