KUCHING: New Zealand is exploring collaboration opportunities with Sarawak, particularly in the education and energy sectors.

Its High Commissioner Michael Walsh said his courtesy visit to Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg aimed to strengthen bilateral ties and discuss potential areas of cooperation.

“Our discussions focused on the importance of education and energy, including various energy sources and their roles,” he said after the meeting at Wisma Bapa Malaysia today.

He added that they also touched on food and beverage sectors, identifying commonalities and ways both sides could complement each other.

This marks Walsh’s first visit to Sarawak since receiving his Letter of Credence as New Zealand’s Head of Mission to Malaysia at Istana Negara in January
