MUKAH: A noodle-based programme has produced numerous entrepreneurs and suppliers of yellow noodles for markets in Tanjong Manis, Belawai, Rajang, Jerijih and surrounding areas.
Given its success, Tanjong Manis MP Yusuf Abdul Wahab called on participants of the Advanced Noodle Product Processing Programme to apply the knowledge gained to generate income, boost household economies and enhance the socio-economic well-being of their communities.
“This programme is in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), providing participants with the tools to achieve self-sufficiency and succeed in their chosen fields.
“It also opens opportunities for exploring small-scale downstream industries based on noodle products,” he said at the closing of the programme, held at the Kampung Bruit Community Hall on Sunday (Jan 5).
Yusuf proposed that the All-Party Parliamentary Group Malaysia (APPGM) – Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) consider introducing additional skill-building programmes, including those tailored for men and youth, to ensure a more inclusive approach that will have a greater impact on the community.
“I trust that the skills gained through this training will empower participants to expand into the wider market and continue to thrive in their respective fields,” he added.
Beyond providing practical skills, the programme has also contributed to the growth of the local economy through the production and promotion of locally made products.
