Non-Muslims invited to liven up Maal Hijrah Festival

KUCHING: Non-Muslims are invited to come and liven up the Maal Hijrah Festival (FMH) at Masjid Jamek Sarawak here.

In stating this, State Mosque Welfare Trust Board (LAKMNS) chief executive officer Datuk Abang Abdul Wahap Abang Julai said that the festival which is organised from today (July 28) to tomorrow (July 30) at 8 am to 10 pm is organised with the idea of it being family oriented.

“Among the various activities held here, we also have exhibitions from the Royal Malaysia Police (RMP), State Fire and Rescue Department (BOMBA), Sarawak Maritime, and many more.

“On top of that, we also have over 60 booths selling food and beverages; various competitions such as Silat, Nasyid, eSports; cooking demonstrations; sports activities; roadshows; and many others.

“From the first hour of our opening in these three days, we have packed various activities to be organised every hour,” he said.

He said this during the press conference of the festival at Masjid Jamek Sarawak here today.

Following this, he stated that the organising of the festival is to make the mosque as the centre of unity.

“That is why we welcome the non-Muslims to liven up our festivity here. We do not have a target number of patrons but the more people coming here, the merrier it will be,” he said.

Earlier, the FMH Flag Raising Ceremony was held here as a symbolic officiating ceremony of the LAKMNS annual event to celebrate the new year of hijrah.
