KUCHING: The state government has no time for the cheap political stunt of Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB), said Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Information Chief Datuk Idris Buang yesterday.

He was responding PSB’s recent statement which questioned Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) on the delay of the materialisation of Sarawak rights.

Amongst the issues raised by the party were the 20 per cent of oil royalty, matters relating to Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63) and nationwide recognition of Unified Examination Certificate (UEC).

In response to this, Idris stated that PSB should know very well that the GPS state government under the leadership of Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg had been very consistent and very serious in bringing up the issues of late.

“PSB knew very well that the state government had won the suit against Petronas on the State Sales Tax (SST). That was one big score and it acknowledged this.

“That was one of those things relating to our rights for Sarawak under MA63 that we have been pursuing and we got it.

“So at this point in time, please don’t play politics. Don’t show your ‘cheapskate’ kind of attitude in politics when we should all be focusing in helping the rakyat (people) during the Covid-19 pandemic,” he said.

He added PSB should instead congratulate GPS for its milestone achievement on SST.

He said GPS did not forget about MA63.

“The federal government and the state government are working hand-in-hand fighting all the issues and challenges brought about by this pandemic. You (PSB) should understand that.

“Why raise the issue (of Sarawak rights) now? Where were you (PSB) before? What did you do? How much have you done? Ask yourself that.

“Stop this cheap political stunt! We have no time for you. We only have time to assist the rakyat,” he said.
